In most labs the reagent inventory is a spreadsheet, a whiteboard on the freezer, and a person who knows. When she goes on leave, the lab runs out of something on a Friday. Titrate tracks every bottle by the milliliter, from the day it is opened, using a small scale under the shelf and a label that scans.

Yuki Sandoval was a lab manager for eight years. She built the first version for her own lab, in a spreadsheet and a kitchen scale. The product now tells a lab what it has, what it is using, and what it will run out of next month, and it orders the replacement with a purchase request a human approves.

Titrate is used in 24 labs. A lab usually saves about a day of staff time per week, and avoids the Friday it used to dread. The company earns on a subscription per lab and takes a small fee on supplier orders, which it publishes.

Why we invested

The first customer was Yuki's own lab, and it still uses the product. We back founders who have been the person on the Friday. She had been that person for eight years.
