A regional truck delivers a load and drives home empty. That empty leg is paid for by someone, and it is usually the carrier. Emptyleg matched those return trips with loads that needed to go the same way, and booked them in a few minutes.

Dana Ostrowski dispatched trucks out of the port of Rotterdam for twelve years. She knew that most of the empty miles were not a mystery. They were a phone call that nobody had time to make. Emptyleg made the call, with a price already attached.

At its peak the platform was booking around 400 return loads a week for small carriers in the Netherlands, Belgium and western Germany. It charged per booked load, not per seat, and never raised a price on a carrier who had made it work. A larger freight marketplace acquired it in 2025.

Why we invested

Revenue came per load, not per seat, which is our test for logistics. Dana could tell us the hour of the day when a given carrier's trucks went home. We backed that kind of detail.
