Drayage is the short truck trip between a port and a warehouse. It is also where a container waits four days for a chassis while six people call each other. Drayline replaces the calls with a shared schedule that the terminal, the trucker and the receiver can all see.

Luis Ferreira was a dispatcher at a Baltimore drayage firm. Tomasz Kral wrote logistics software for a shipping line. The product tells a dispatcher which container is ready, which driver is near it, and which chassis is free, and it books the pickup before the window closes.

Drayline now handles around 1,800 container moves a week across four East Coast ports. Customers pay per load. The founders keep a sheet of every account’s buying stages and read it each Monday. The first month with a new customer is the hardest, and the founders spend it on the phone with the dispatcher.
